You don’t need a diagnosis to want to feel more like yourself

Psilocybin therapy has been sold by the medical establishment as a last resort for intractable mental health conditions. We know it’s capable of much more than that. People come to Althea to process grief, break through creative blocks, reconnect with meaning and purpose, work through a challenging chapter, and explore their mind and spirit. Some are also managing mood disorders such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD. All of these motivations are valid and welcome.

The vast majority of legal psilocybin sessions in Oregon and Colorado are processed on our platform, so we can see the results across thousands of real journeys with real people. The people who came in struggling most tended to see the biggest shifts. Dose matters less than the integrity of the container and how prepared people feel, which is one of the reasons Althea only works with licensed, vetted facilitators in state-regulated care models.

Psilocybin is unlike other medicine

Psilocybin doesn’t target symptoms the way traditional medications do. It works by temporarily changing how the brain processes experience itself, which is why the same underlying process can help someone move through grief, overcome a creative block, or break free from ruminative loops.

Subjective experience

Psilocybin journeys are not only visual but often felt. Embodied knowledge tends to land differently than insights grasped only intellectually, and it can be as clarifying as years of ordinary reflection.2

Cognitive flexibility

Psilocybin loosens rigid patterns of thought, making it easier to see old assumptions, stories, and defenses from a different angle. In this state of mind, you can try on different ways of relating to yourself, others, and the world around you.3

Neuroplasticity

In the weeks afterward, the brain enters a window of heightened capacity to form new connections. This biological process is what allows an insight to become lasting behavioral change.4

You’re never doing this alone

Your facilitator helps you prepare beforehand, holds space and keeps you safe during your journey, and supports your integration afterward. Every Althea client also gets a Psychedelic Care Navigator who guides you through the whole process, from matching you with the right facilitator to checking in with you along the way.

We work with only the most qualified facilitators

All 400+ facilitators in our network are licensed in Oregon or Colorado, and each one is vetted by our team before they can take clients. If a facilitator isn’t the right fit for you, we’ll rematch you at no additional cost.

Trauma & reconnecting

“
I’ve dealt with a lot of trauma from my childhood, and I’m in the middle of a divorce, so I’ve been struggling with anxiety and depression. It doesn’t cure all your problems, but it’s helped me manage everything I’m going through, and I honestly feel like it accelerated the grieving process of my divorce by at least a year, maybe more.
— William, verified Althea client
There was a level of trust that allowed me to move past a block point I’d experienced in two previous journeys. This time, the block moved and revealed insights I’m still working through in integration and healing.
— John, verified Althea client
I came away from the experience with a stronger sense of trust in myself and a deeper curiosity about my own growth.
— Hiromi, verified Althea client
I’ve had one other facilitated psilocybin experience that was mostly calm, but this time I had a pretty challenging experience. Even though it was difficult, I was able to process it and stay focused on productive, meaningful outcomes. It’s changed the kind of person I want to be as I keep growing from it.

What to know before you start

No. Some clients are working through depression, anxiety, or PTSD with their facilitator. Many others are here for personal growth, creativity, spiritual exploration, or simply curiosity. You don’t need a clinical reason to book.

You must be 21 or older, located in or able to travel to Oregon or Colorado, and pass a facilitator screening call to confirm psilocybin is appropriate for you.

A licensed facilitator leads your session in a licensed service center (Oregon) or healing center (Colorado). An Althea Psychedelic Care Navigator supports you through matching, logistical prep, and follow-up.

Every experience is different, but the arc is the same for everyone. It begins with an assessment to make sure psilocybin’s a good fit for you, followed by preparation with your facilitator to set intentions and know what to expect. Then, you’ll have your dosing session itself in a licensed center and integration afterward to work through what came up.

Not exactly. Facilitators support psychedelic preparation and integration and hold space for the experience itself. However, they aren’t necessarily providing clinical psychotherapy unless separately licensed to do so.

Facilitators screen every client before their session, and licensed centers are equipped to support you through the full experience.

The true you is waiting to surface
