Portland, Oregon
I grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, but have called Portland, Oregon home since 2012. I was raised with seven siblings in a Christian home and left that religion at the age of 25. I was a competitive athlete in high school and college (track and American football) and I now enjoy soccer, obstacle races, Aikido, and hiking. I served in the Army National Guard including a deployment to the NATO peacekeeping mission in Kosovo. I am the father of two teenagers. I have been through a divorce and have remarried. I am a long time meditator and practitioner of Buddhism. I have a bachelor of liberal arts degree with minors in history, philosophy, and political science. I went on to earn a master’s in clinical research and a doctorate in naturopathic medicine. I completed the California Institute of Integral Studies’ certificate in psychedelic-assisted therapy and research and have developed and taught in several training programs and graduate courses. I am currently the chair of the Oregon Psilocybin Advisory Board and conduct psychedelic research at the National University of Natural Medicine.
